Dhanush, who was most recently seen in the R. S. Durai Senthilkumar-directed Pattas (2020), has joined hands with his brother and well-known director Selvaraghavan, for a sequel to their successful film Pudhupettai (2006). The two are set to work together after a long gap of nine years. They last collaborated on the 2011 film Mayakkam Enna.
In 2017, Dhanush had revealed that he might team up with his brother for a sequel to their superhit gangster film, Pudhupettai. His fans have been eagerly waiting for the official confirmation of the movie for a long time now.
Now, in a surprise announcement, director Selvaraghavan himself confirmed that his next project will be with brother Dhanush and the film is none other than Pudhupettai 2, a sequel to Pudhupettai. The filmmaker was speaking at a college festival where he spilt the beans on the project and said that the next film after NGK that he will be doing is with Dhanush. He also added that while they were discussing what film they could do together, they have decided to go ahead with Pudhupettai 2.
Last year at a college cultural fest, Dhanush also confirmed that there are possibilities for Pudhupettai 2 with his director brother Selvaraghavan. Now, the acclaimed director has confirmed the project. Buzz has it that Dhanush may start shooting for the film after his much-awaited Bollywood film, Atrangi Re, wraps up.
Atrangi Re, co-starring Akshay Kumar and Sara Ali Khan, started rolling a couple of days ago. The film reunites Dhanush with filmmaker Aanand L Rai after their 2013 superhit film, Raanjhanaa, co-starring Sonam Kapoor and Swara Bhaskar. Dhanush has just wrapped up his next Tamil film, Karnan, with director Mari Selvaraj. In Kollywood, he is currently shooting for his next film with director Karthik Subbaraj, titled Jagame Thandhiram.
