Anasuya Bhardwaj, one of the talented actresses working in South Indian cinema, has been signed on to star in the Telugu remake of Bollywood blockbuster Andhadhun (2018). She will, reportedly, play the same role which seasoned actress Tabu essayed in the original film, helmed by master storyteller Sriram Raghavan.
Popular South Indian actor Nithiin has come onboard to play the male lead. He will step into the shoes of Ayushmann Khurrana in the remake. The forthcoming film will be helmed by Venkatadri Express. The project has been launched officially in Hyderabad on Monday, where Shyam Prasad Reddy clapped the muhurat shot, producer Dil Raju switched on the camera and Surender Reddy directed the first shot.
According to reports, Anasuya Bharadwaj is set to reprise Tabu’s role in the remake. If sources are to be believed, the makers had initially approached Tabu herself to play her part in the Telugu remake as well. However, the makers could not afford her and decided to go with other options. However, there is no official confirmation on the news.
If at all Anasuya Bharadwaj joins the cast of the film, she will be playing a role with grey shades for the second time in her career. She has previously played such a character in Kshanam (2016). Anasuya Bharadwaj won loads of awards and accolades for her performance as ACP Jaya in the mystery-thriller, also starring Advi Shesh and Adah Sharma.
Andhadhun hit the marquee in 2018. The moderately budgeted film opened to great critical acclaim and turned out to be a huge commercial success at the box-office. Besides the commercial success, the movie went on to receive three National Film Awards which include Best Feature Film in Hindi, Best Actor for Ayushmann Khurrana and Best Screenplay. Apart from Telugu, Andhadhun is also being remade in Tamil.
