Epic movies seem to be great for anyone who likes it, but the following ones rock some serious mistakes that twisted history.
As a movie lover, we are acquainted with the very often movie bloopers that there is a special movie rating every year to list the most mistake-taking movies. Especially, it is not funny to talk about the mistakes that change the real history.
Not sure that you can realize those through these below epic movies even if you have watched them more than once. Have a remind of 10 popular movies with their both serious and minor mistakes.
The Green Mile
At the top of the list is The Green Mile set in Louisiana in 1935. In the movie, electrocution was used to execute prisoners but actually, until 1941 they do not use that way. At the time of the movie, prisoners were set to be hung.
Seabiscuit
The movie is released at the beginning of the 1930s when a few people took a risk to bet their final pennies on horse races to earn money. We see that in the movie, the jockeys wear helmets with bands to keep safety for the horse riders. However, in fact, there were no bands like that on the helmets at that time.
Kingdom of Heaven
The movie is based on a true event happening prior to the Third Crusade. In fact, Balian was a part of a noble family and he is 40 years old while the plot of Kingdom of Heaven created the main character Balian as a 28-year-old ironsmith without any special make-ups.
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
This is the third part of the series about the well-known archaeologist. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade is set in 1939 but medals and other symbols from the Second World War were seen on the Nazi soldiers’ customs.
Django Unchained
It makes a lot of fun to see the main character in stylish sunglasses when the movie is in 1859. The truth is that the mass sunglasses production just started from 1929.
Alexander
The movie painted 36-year-old Raz Degan as Darius III in the enemy side of the great leader of the military and the Persians warlord. Nevertheless, the real Darius III was at the age of 50 when the events occurred.
The Last Samurai
The Last Samurai is a story which begins in 1876, the time the American flag held 37 stars in reality. But there were up to more stars than that appearing in the other shots of the movie, which would be true since 1890.
Apollo 13
From the movie, after keeping silent for 4 minutes, Thomas Ken Mattingly was carrying out a connection establishment with the ship. That the astronaut was eliminated from the crew of the ship some days before doing the mission because the others believed that he has been infected by measles is true. It is also real that he contributed to the rescue duty as he knew well about the ship. But the one to establish the connection with the ship is actually Joseph P. Kerwin.
Robin Hood
There are some inaccuracies in Ridley Scott’s directorial about real history. Firstly, the movie shows that King Richard the Lionheart is dead by an arrow while there was an attack on his castle. In fact, Richard I get wounded during a siege around the castle and died from an infection after 10 days. The second point is that the movie doesn’t show the period of 16 years from the day of John Lackland’s crown to the day Magna Carta was signed.
Troy
Brave jockeys appeared in Troy during the Trojan War. The real history shows that the war happened in the 13th century B.C. At that time, the ancient Greeks only rode chariots and started riding horses from the 6th century B.C.
