Keira Knightley And Keeley Hawes Cast In 'Misbehavior' As Leads

Actress Keira Knightley and Keeley Hawes will play the leading roles in the movie about the most controversial Miss World contest called “Misbehavior”. According to the DigitalSpy, the film is based on a real event about the Miss World 1970, which was disrupted by a group of feminist activists.

Nearly 50 years ago, Miss World was a beauty contest that drew the attention of millions of audience. In Miss World 1970 held at the Royal Albert Hall, members of Women’s Liberation Movement disrupted the stage as well as threw the flour bomb and leaflets down to the hall. The upcoming movie “Misbehavior”, which is directed by Philippa Lowthorpe, will retell this shocking event as well as focus on the preparation of members of Women’s Liberation Movement for the sabotage.

Keira Knightley, who is most known for her roles in Atonement, Pirates of The Caribbean and Pride and Prejudice, will play as one of the members of Women’s Liberation Movement. Keeley Hawes, who recently stars in TV series Bodyguard, will take on the role of Julia Morley, a member of Miss World organization board. Young talent Gugu Mbatha-Raw will portray the beautiful Jennifer Hosten from Granada, who won the crown of Miss World 1970. Miss World 1970 became famous because it was the first beauty pageant won by a black woman. This led to further controversy because of the suspicions to the voting system.

In real life, after the beauty pageant was opposed, Julia Morley had brought many changes to the Miss World. She took over her husband’s role as Chairman of Miss World after he passed away in 2000. Julia Morley has put a lot of effort to make the Miss World more meaningful by encouraging the contestants to take part in a series of charitable activities and launching the campaign called “Beauty for A Purpose” to raise funds for disadvantaged children around the world.

When asked about the event in 1970, Julia Morley said that she was completely confused about it. She also added that Miss World is always considered as a contest to honour the beauty of women and to help women raise their voice in society.

In contrast, the former member of Women’s Liberation Movement Sally Alexander, who played as a vital role in the sabotage of 1970, remained her opinion. In an interview with BBC World, she claimed that she doesn’t understand what the idea of Miss World is when women are always judged by their look and body. She also said that she wanted to ask the contestants why women have to be beautiful before getting notice and recognition.
