Deepika Padukone’s hotly awaited film Chhapaak will hit the screens in just a matter of a few days. The actress and the whole film crew aren’t leaving any stone unturned for the film promotions. It is based on the real life of an acid attack survivor and also marks the return of Bollywood breakout star Deepika after 2 years hiatus.
Recently, Deepika conducted a special social experiment to test the real reaction of people when encountering acid attack survivors. In a video, the actress can be seen putting on prosthetic makeup which looks like her character, Malti in Chhapaak and walking the streets in Mumbai, accessories stores and markets to see how people react.
The video is begun with the sharing of Deepika that she is always recognized whenever she steps out and sometimes she wants to hide.
Many cameras were put secretly in handbags and hidden corners of the stores where the actress and other acid attack survivors visited later. Deepika opted to step into a cellphone store first where the actress is warmly greeted by the staff. The actress then asks for clicking a selfie with other women in the shop and a few men are seen glancing at the girls though no one has rude behaviors.
In the grocery store, some people refuse to offer help for them and even give the disgusted looks. Only a few respond kindly and give them smiles. The discrimination increased when they are in a flea market. A woman even hides her son from them and another also screams rudely at them when one of the experiment participants asks for help.
Earlier, Deepika Padukone had a meaningful and memorable birthday with acid attack survivors in Lucknow.
On the work front, the film Chhapaak will release on 10 January. Stay tuned for more updates!
