UN Women India To Hold Special Screening Of Film Thappad

The United Nation's Women India announced that they will hold a special screening of the film. This marks a major sign for the entire Thappad team. Anubhav Sinha's film Thappad has been gaining lot of praise from the Indian audience for portraying the societal evils. The film which revolves around life of women in Indian society, Thappad talks briefly about domestic violence and crime against women. Thappad marks the hattrick for Anubhav Sinha after critically acclaimed films after Mulk and Article 15.

Recently, Union Minister Smriti Irani had mooted for the film and had tweeted that she will surely watch the movie. She had also stated that such films spread awareness in the society and it should be widely promoted across India. However, the film ran into troubles after Taapsee Pannu showed her support for students protesting in Delhi against CAA. Several right wing activists demanded ban on the film and netizens slammed Taapsee for standing up in support of 'Anti-nationals.'

United Nations Women India reached out to the filmmakers and sought the relevance of the subject and storyline. The organization will hold a special screening for ambassadors and delegates. The esteemed organization had tweeted about their support for the film and had urged everyone to watch it. The special screening will be held on women's day.

The film has been made tax free in the states of Madhya Pradesh and New Delhi. The film has been produced by Anubhav Sushila Sinha and Bhushan Sudesh Kumar, and directed by Anubhav Sushila Sinha. The film has collected over 20 crores since its release on 28 February. The film had received huge response from the critics. Netizens have termed the film as an eye opener for every women in India.
