In a developing entertainment industry like B-town, celebs have to affirm their strong positions and show off all of their skills. There some Bollywood stars achieving the goals of an actor and a director as well, but their more successful career paths are likely to be inclined to directors.
Sometimes, life presents us with a lot of incredible chances to gain success and asks us to make decisions. From Arbaaz Khan to Rakesh Roshan, these Bollywood stars didn’t succeed in chasing the acting dream and changed to move to the other path – directors.
Arbaaz Khan
Whoever knows Salman Khan also has an idea of his brother Arbaaz Khan. Post the film Pyaar Kiya To Darna Kya, Arbaaz wasn’t highly appreciated about his performance to hit the limelight. Since then, he decided to turn to be a producer of films and one of his biggest achievements over time is his hit series Dabangg. After the first part of the franchise released, the director was titled as Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment in the National Film Award.
Ashutosh Gowariker
Ashutosh made his acting debut in 1984 Holi starring Aamir Khan and then joined some other Hindi movies such as Naam, Chamatkar, Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, and Gawaahi. Despite portraying many characters, he was recognized as a stellar actor so he nearly gave up acting.
Stepping into the directing path, he gave a couple of films named Pehla Nasha and Baazi. Not long later, Ashutosh was honored as a brilliant director with the flick Lagaan which even participated in the Oscars race for the category of the Best Foreign Language Film. Up to now, he has upgraded his level with Jodhaa Akbar and Swades.
Prabhudheva
The 1994 Tamil film Indhu marked Prabhudheva’s entry into the glam world as an actor and he was also a part of 50 films in many languages of Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil. But his acting wasn’t as nominated as his other skill which won him the Best Choreographer at the National Film Awards in 1996 and 2004.
Apart from it, he won many hearts for directing entertaining films including Wanted, R…Rajkumar, Rowdy Rathore, and Pokkiri. He is also the director of December-hit Dabangg 3 as well as Salman Khan’s upcoming film Radhe launching next year.
Abhishek Kapoor
Being considered as one of the most successful Bollywood stars turning from an actor to a director, Abhishek has been a renowned director in the tinsel town. Debuting as an actor with 1995 film Aashique Mastane and then appearing in Uff! Yeh Mohabbat two years later, he didn’t a glorious height in the acting career.
After that, Abhishek made a serious concentration on directing and brought his first directorial to Bollywood titled Aryan: Unbreakable starring Sneha Ullal and Sohail Khan. He rather became more famous with Rock On!! Releasing in 2008.
Pooja Bhatt
Staring to dim her foot in the film industry with many flicks such as Daddy, Sadak, Dil Hai Ki Manta Nahin, Narazz, and Junoon, however, Pooja didn’t win a crown for her acting skill. In the last 90s, limelight seemed to leave her alone that she realized she fits a director better.
Coming to the producing and directing world, she made an impression with the 2003 Paap featuring John Abraham and Udita Goswami. After the success of the film, she continued her directing career with some films including Holiday, Kajraare, Dhokha, and Jism 2.
Subhash Ghai
The well-known actor of B-town started his filmy path by starring in Aradhana (1969) and Umang (1970). Not leaving any impression on the audiences, he made a decision to write the script, direct and produce. Subhash debuted as a director with 1976 Kalicharan which turned to be a hit as well as took Shatrughan Sinha and Zeenat Aman to the heights. Not only that, but he is also a renowned director for several blockbusters such as Hero, Karma, Saudagar, Pardes, Mari Jung, Ram Lakhan, and Taal.
