'Thappad' Poster Plagiarized From Mexican Film 'After Lucia'?

Taapsee Pannu will be seen next in her upcoming film Thappad. The film revolves around the story of a woman who files for divorce when her husband slaps her. The film has been produced by Anubhav Sinha and Bhushan Kumar and is slated for a release on 28 February. The story plot of this film has been considered as a tight slap for makers of Kabir Singh. But now, poster of Thappad has landed into a controversy. It has been alleged that the film poster has been copied from Mexican movie After Lucia. The film has been directed by Anubhav Sinha and promises a great story plot which has never been portrayed in Bollywood.
The entire controversy started after the poster was released on social media. Soon netizens called out the filmmakers for plagiarizing the content which almost looks similar to the film After Lucia. It is a 2012 Mexican drama film directed by Michel Franco. The film starred Tessa Ía González Norvind and it received wide appreciation in International Film festivals across the world. Though the film has a different story plot, the poster almost looks similar to the one released by filmmakers of Thappad.
Meanwhile, in a recent interview, Taapsee Pannu during promotion of her film Thappad spoke how a slap cannot be an expression of love. She said that indulging in such act is showing disrespect to women and one needs to stand against such acts. She also said that women who live in poor economic condition are forced to face such violent acts as they are dependent on spouses. Leading which they have to face such torture and disrespect everyday. Taapsee Pannu is very vocal about women rights and has always endorsed female centeric views. Her film Pink was considered as one of the best court drama performance.
