The former actress Tanushree Dutta decided to file a complaint against actor Nana Patekar with the police station ...
Police said that they received a complaint from the actress Tanushree Dutta on Saturday, accusing the famous actor Nana Patekar of sexual harassment in one film footage in 2008. In the latest interview, Dutta claimed that Patekar had unkind behavior towards her when the duo was shooting a song for the movie Horn Ok Pleasss.
Oshiwara Police Department is the place where Dutta has registered her complaint. In addition to Nana Patekar, choreographer Ganesh Acharya, producer Sameer Siddiqui, and director Rakesh Sarang also appeared in the allegation. According to Dutta’s defense lawyer, Nitin Satpute, the police has received the accusation and invited Dutta to the police station to testify on Sunday.
... and will pursue the suit to the High Court if receiving no proper response from the police
Meeting the press, Satpute said that they have full proof of this case. If the police don’t carry out appropriate actions, Dutta will continue bringing the case to the High Court to find the resolution.
Facing the question why Dutta decided to pursue the suit when the incident happened 10 years ago, her lawyer explained that Tanushree had filed the First Information Report (FIR) to the police in 2008 to allege actor Nana Patekar, choreographer, director, and producer of the film. However, the police didn’t accurately record her testimony. Instead, they registered it as a suit of her car attack, without mentioning the name of anyone. Moreover, after being sexually harassed and obtaining no adequate justice, she experienced a difficult time and suffered from depression. At present, Tanushree’s health has restored. Therefore, she decided to denounce the past sexual abuse.
Dutta narrated the incident in her letter of complaint
Dutta said that she has filed the lawsuit against Nana Patekar and made an FIR according to the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
As the initial agreement, this was a solo song solely focusing on her scenes. She also frankly suggested that she wouldn’t play any sexy or vulgar dance moves in the scenes.
Nevertheless, until the fourth day of the filming, with the reason for guiding some dance moves, Patekar used his arms to seize her and had rude and improper behaviour. In the petition, she expressed her anger at Patekar’s actions:
After that, Dutta also presented Patekar’s inappropriate behaviour to the choreographer, producer, and director in the expectation that they would give the reasonable resolution. However, she was surprised that those intimate steps were directed and added to the scenes by choreographer Acharya, including Patekar’s misbehaviour, Dutta said.
After the incident, she phoned her parents and manager to tell the story clearly. Nonetheless, the producer declined to provide a solution and Dutta had no alternative but to exit that place. On her way out of the studio, an attack on her car happened. However, due to the police’s intervention, she got away from that location without any danger.
Later, the police carried her to the police department for questioning. Nonetheless, what the police recorded was different from what she had declared before. There were several parts of her testimony erased, ignored and not recorded by the police, she reported.
She also filed a complaint against Patekar with The Cine and TV Artists Association (CINTAA) in March 2008 but didn’t receive a fair solution from the organization.
The actress fell into depression after the past experience
Dutta expressed her painful emotion in the letter when that problem had serious consequences for her health and her career as well: “After the above incident, I was under tremendous shock and I suffered psychological trauma. I was unable to take work and suffered a huge monetary loss in crores.”
Patekar has just returned to Mumbai on Saturday after completing his film footage in Housefull 4, his forthcoming film project, in Jodhpur. Answering the reporters’ questions about the suit, he claimed that it was only “a lie”.
Currently, Patekar’s representative has sent an official document to request an apology from Dutta for this case.
