Yesterday when the Supreme Court announced its final decision that the FIR against Rhea Chakraborty and six other people was correct, CBI has been allowed to take on the case from local police. Reacting to the SC verdict, Rhea confidently said the truth would remain the same whichever agency investigated the SSR case.
Specifically, the Supreme Court has closed all options for the Mumbai Police to register a new criminal case related to Sushant Singh Rajput’s demise. They are not allowed to continue the on-going probe either. Centre Bureau of Investigation (CBI) will take charge of the entire investigation from now.
Justice Hrishikesh Roy from SC said while ordering a CBI probe into the unnatural death of the late actor:
“While according approval for the ongoing CBI investigation, if any other case is registered on the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput and the surrounding circumstances of his unnatural death, the CBI is directed to investigate the new case as well.”
The Supreme Court also highlighted the fact that the Mumbai Police attempted to not file an FIR against the case, so they shouldn’t pursue any parallel investigation on the case.
Accordingly, the CBI team will come to Mumbai for further probe. This is where the incident happened as well as evidence or documents are stored. As per the SC order, it’s compulsory for Mumbai Police to co-operate with the CBI and hand in all related files recording their investigation from the beginning.
The CBI is also reported to collect documents from the Bihar police, too. They have also spoken to some people involved in the probe till now. However, their specific time of arriving in Mumbai hasn’t been informed.
The authorities also note that further details of the probe can’t be shared at the moment.
Before the SC’s final decision on the CBI investigation, the Maharashtra government insisted that Mumbai police were able to handle the case well and Patna Police where Sushant’s father filed an FIR had no jurisdiction to launch a probe into the incident.
Mumbai police were also claimed to refuse to cooperate with Bihar officers who came to the city for collecting evidence. A Patna officer was detained and quarantined while others couldn’t get hold of documents in connection with Disha Salian’s death because the Maharastra side said they accidentally deleted the folder.
When hearing the announcement from SC yesterday, family and fans of Sushant Singh Rajput could finally take relief for their fight within the past month. People rushed to social media to declare their initial victory in getting justice back for the actor.
Vikas Singh, the SSR family lawyer even said Sushant was probably murdered instead of being abetted to commit suicide due to the shocking changes in Siddharth Pithani’s reactions.
To be specific, Siddharth Pithani opened Sushant’s bedroom door and cut the rope so that the body fell onto the bed. He at first constantly contacted Sushant’s family and created an impression that the late actor actually killed himself but after Mr. Singh filed an FIR against Rhea Chakraborty, he stopped connecting with the family and changed his attitude.
