2018 hit Padmaavat starring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone has turned out to be one of the most successful films in the Hindi film industry. The film also helped boost the profile of the Jodi who then got married in the real-life. However, after nearly two years since the release day, male lead Ranveer has spilled some beans on his role in the film.
Recently, the Bollywood heartthrob was invited to Bollywood Actors Roundtable 2019 of CNN-News18 with Shahid Kapoor, Ayushmann Khurrana, Vijay Varma and Akshaye Khanna. The host Rajeev Masand asked the actors which roles they initially rejected but agreed later. To this, Ranveer Singh went on to reply that he wasn’t roped in essaying the role of the emperor.
Elaborating further over the same, the star said he found his character so dark, despicable, messed up and loathsome. He told director Sanjay that this role might take him into a hole that he was afraid of not coming out of.
He said,
The actor added how the helmer managed to convince him to accept the role.
Ranveer’s performance then got a big thumbs up from the audiences and the critics alike. The film has also taken the ticket window by storm and recorded a stellar collection. The role even won him several awards including the prestigious Filmfare Award for Best Actor (Critics).
On the work front, the couple Ranveer and Deepika will be sharing the screen space again in the sports drama ’83. The actor will be essaying the role of legendary cricketer Kapil Dev while Deepika will be playing his wife Romi.
He will also star in Karan Johar’s big project Takht and recently started filming for Jayeshbhai Jordaar.
