John Abraham To Headline A Hindi Remake Of “Vedalam”

John Abraham and T-Series Films’ Bhushan Kumar have joined forces to remake the superhit Tamil action comedy Vedalam (2015), which starred Ajith Kumar in the lead role. After Satyameva Jayate (2018) and Batla House (2019), John Abraham and Bhushan Kumar are currently working on the much-awaited gangster drama Mumbai Saga. In April and July respectively, their next films Satyameva Jayate 2 and Ek Villain 2 are set to begin production.

Fans are excited to know that the two are joining hands for the official remake of Vedalam. Filmmaker Rohit Dhawan, who is known for helming such hits as Desi Boyz (2011) and Dishoom (2016) with John Abraham, will call the shots for the forthcoming film.

According to a source close to the development, Rohit Dhawan is working round the clock on the screenplay of the film. The movie will be set in Mumbai, for a pan-India audience. The source also adds that the team will begin recceing locations for the shoot in a couple of months from now. The makers are looking at shooting the film at real locations to capture the local flavour. A small portion of the movie will be shot outside the city as well.

The original film had Ajith, Ganesh, Lakshmi Menon and Shruti Hassan in lead roles. Rahul Dev, Kabir Duhan Singh and Aniket Chouhan played the antagonists. The source shared that the two actresses are integral to the narrative and the makers are looking to cast strong performers for both parts.

We hear that it was producer Bhushan Kumar who loved the original movie and took it to John Abraham. The actor liked it and now both are excited about the remake as it is quite different from their collaborations in the past. It will be interesting to see whom the makers cast to play the female leads in the upcoming project.
