“Good Newwz” Continues To Thrive & Bloom At The Domestic Office

“Good Newwz” has been performing exceedingly well ever since hitting the box-office on 27th December. The film stars Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani in lead roles.

Good Newwz, which hit the marquee on 27th December, has inflamed the domestic box-office and how! Headlined by Akshay Kumar, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Diljit Dosanjh and Kiara Advani in central characters, the movie has touched the right chord with the audience all across the country. Resultantly, Good Newwz has scored a big opening weekend at the cash counter. The Raj Mehta directorial has minted approximately Rs. 65 crore domestically in the opening weekend itself, which is indeed good news for the moderately budgeted film.

Good Newwz opened well on 27th December and recorded 25% occupancy during morning shows across India. Thanks to glowing reviews from critics and great word of mouth, the movie picked its pace up in the evening and night shows, netting Rs 17.50 crore at the box-office on the first day. Good Newwz released across 3100 screens and emerged as the 3rd best opening film of superstar Akshay Kumar in 2019 after Kesari and Mission Mangal but ahead of Housefull 4.

The film recorded a 30% jump on Saturday, earning Rs 21.78 crore on day two. On Sunday, the movie jumped further and went on to rake in Rs 26.65 crore, thus taking its first weekend total to an impressive Rs. 65.99 crores.

Good Newwz has now emerged as the 9th best opening film of 2019 after War, Bharat, Saaho, Kabir Singh, Dabangg 3 and Mission Mangal and 7th best opening film of Akshay Kumar. It has beaten the box-office collection of Kumar’s big-ticket Diwali release Housefull 4, which had racked up Rs. 53.22 crore in the opening weekend. The film is now en-route to becoming a hit. Good Newwz is produced by Dharma Productions’ head honcho Karan Johar in association with Cape Of Good Hope.
