Bhumi Pednekar will cap off 2019 on a high note! After the runaway success of Saand Ki Aankh (2019) and Bala (2019), the actress is looking forward to the release of her next film Pati Patni Aur Woh, co-starring Ananya Panday and Kartik Aaryan. The Mudassar Aziz directorial is poised for its entry into theatres on 6th December, 2019.
The back-to-back success of her films has given her more confidence about her choices. “I am still processing it, but I am more confident about my choices as an actor now,” says the actress who made her acting debut with Yash Raj Films’ Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015). “I am very ambitious, I want it all,” she adds.
When asked about the recent criticism that she received for playing a shooter double her age and using makeup to play a dark-skinned lawyer in Saand Ki Aankh and Bala respectively, Bhumi Pednekar avers, “By that logic, a naturally fuller woman should have played Sandhya in DLKH. I am an actor. It is my job to transform into different characters. I respect people’s opinion, and I did take a step back to think about what they were saying. But I think I will continue to pick such roles because I like challenging myself. And let’s not forget that there simply are not enough meaty roles written for women.”
After Pati Patni Woh, Bhumi Pednekar will be seen in Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare. Talking about the film, the actress says, “It is a celebration of womanhood and I had a blast filming it,” she says.
Bhumi Pednekar also has Karan Johar’s magnum opus Takht. Besides her, the high-profile film also features Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Anil Kapoor, Janhvi Kapoor and Vicky Kaushal in central characters. Takht is expected to start rolling in February 2020.
