For those who have not known, Laxmii is the Hindi reboot version of Tamil movie Kanchana which was released in 2011, also helmed by Raghava Lawrence. Previously, in a talk to a news agency, the director shared that he altered the title to Laxmmi Bomb from Kanchana in order to appeal the audience. He said,
"Our Tamil film was named after the main lead character Kanchana. Kanchana means 'gold' which is a form of Lakshmi. Earlier I considered going the same way for the Hindi remake but we collectively decided that the name must appeal to the Hindi audience as well and what better than Laxmmi.”
For this film, actor Akshay Kumar plays the part of a man possessed by a transgender ghost. Talking about his role in the upcoming movie, Akshay said,
"In my career of 30 years, this is my most mentally intense role. It has been that tough. I've never experienced something like this before. The credit goes to my director, Lawrence sir. He introduced me to a version of myself which I didn't know existed."
The movie was supposed to hit the screen on 22 Mya. However, Laxmii was delayed because of the global pandemic. Now that it has found another way out, Laxmii will be introduced on 9 November, Diwali on Disney+Hotstar.
