Singer-Actor Karan Oberoi Granted 14-Day Judicial Custody Relating To Extortion And Rape

Karan Oberoi, who has been blamed for extortion and rape, granted judicial custody for 14 days by the Andheri Court On Thursday.

On Thursday, actor-singer Karan Oberoi, who has been blamed for extortion and rape, granted judicial custody for 14 days by the Andheri Court. On May 6th, Oshiwara police arrested the 40-year-old TV actor after he has been filed a legal complaint by a fashion healer-cum-designer. In particular, there was an FIR against Karan registered in Mumbai’s Oshiwara Police Station.

As stated by the police, Oberoi allegedly blackmailed and raped a woman under the pretext that he tied the knot with her. According to the FIR, "Oberoi not only raped the woman and filmed the act but also demanded money from the victim threatening to release the video if she did not pay up”.

Since Karan was arrested, his friends from Bollywood industry have shown their support for him. Especially, they even started the #MenToo movement to help and encourage him as the actor has been suffering from false crime accusation involving sexual violence. Now, Karan Oberoi has granted judicial custody and Dinesh Tiwari, his lawyer revealed that on Friday, they'd apply for a court bail.

In talking with ETimes, Tiwari shared that the fake case like this has happened unexpectedly and suddenly. More than that, such false allegations are made when one doesn’t maintain a harmonious relationship with the other.

On Thursday, Pooja Bedi, Gurbani (Karan’s sister), and his friends including Sudhanshu Pandey, Sherrin Verghese, Varkey Patani, Chaitanya Bhosle, Anveshi Jain, Danny Fernandes, and Sachin Shroff assemble outside the court to support for him.

On the work front, Oberoi has taken part in many TV series such as Inside Edge and Jassi Jaissi Koi Nahin. What’s more, the actor was also a music band’s member, A Band of Boys. And, he even had his appearance in several advertising campaigns including Lamborghini, Jack and Jones, Royal Enfield Riding Apparel, and FBB.

Besides being an actor, Karan Oberoi is also a fitness and fashion model, and he often updates his social media accounts.
