Samantha Akkineni Signed On To Headline A Horror Flick

Samantha Akkineni, who was most recently seen in Telugu romantic drama Jaanu (2020), has been signed on to headline an out-and-out horror flick. The actress already has some interesting projects on her platter and now, she has added yet another exciting film to her line-up of projects.

After the dismal performance of Jaan, fans were curious to know about the next Telugu project of Samantha Akkineni. The actress is yet to open her cards. What is clear at the moment is that the award-winning actress is not only working with Vignesh Shivan on a film which also stars Vijay Sethupathi and Nayanthara in lead roles, she has also given her nod to filmmaker Ashwin Saravanan’s next.

A tweet on micro-blogging site Twitter wrote that for the first time, Samantha Akkineni is set to act in a proper horror thriller to be directed by Ashwin Saravanan. Official announcement will be made soon. The actress, who clocks a decade in movies, will be seen in her first bonafide horror film.

However, the actress made it clear that her film with the Ashwin Saravanan was much more than just a horror film. Responding to the aforementioned tweet, Samantha Akkineni said that it is going to be much more than just a horror film.

Samantha Akkineni entered Telugu cinema with romantic drama Ye Maaya Chesave. Also starring Nag Chaitanya as the male lead, the film hit the marquee in 2010. After Ye Maaya Chesave, the actress went on to star in several successful films, including Baana Kaathadi (2010), Brindavanam (2010) and Eega (2012).

Talking about her horror films, the actress has previously worked on Raju Gari Gadhi 2 (2017) and U-Turn (2018). Though these films were not out-and-out horror films, they had elements of horror. More details on her project with Ashwin Saravanan are expected to arrive soon.
