Shah Rukh Khan On Indian Film Festival: Still A Rising Superstar, Not Making As Many Hit Films

Shah Rukh Khan addressed the audience and his film industry colleagues at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne on Thursday but he couldn’t help but take a jibe at himself for not making as many hits as he would like to.

On August 8, the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne began their tenth-year celebrations at Melbourne’s Central Business District. The award-winning film festival is one of the largest Indian festivals in the world in the presence of Bollywood's who's who, amidst much frenzy and fanfare.
It had several stars from Indian cinema such as Shah Rukh Khan, Vijay Sethupathi, Gayathrie Shankar, Tabu, Karan Johar, Arjun Kapoor, Sriram Raghavan, Rima Das and Zoya Akhtar in attendance.
Known universally as SRK in his home country, Khan opened the week-long Indian Film Festival of Melbourne on Thursday, 12 years after he last visited the city to film a movie. Shah Rukh will be felicitated with "Excellence in Cinema" honor at the awards night.
During his talk about the festival to celebrate its 10th anniversary this year, the superstar takes a jibe at himself for not making as many hits as he would like to. He said.
Shah Rukh Khan is one of the biggest superstars of India, who not only has a huge fan base in the country but across the globe. However, the actor's movies have not been doing well at the box office lately. In fact, most of his recent films ended up being flops at the box office including two high budget experimental movies Fan and Zero.
On the other hand, his long-time colleague and filmmaker Karan Johar couldn't stop singing the praises for his friend.

The Indian Film Festival of Melbourne will go on from the 8th of August to the 15th of August in Melbourne, Australia. The festival will screen over 60 films from all across India and the subcontinent in over 22 languages. The festival would pay tribute to the actor’s continuous contribution to cinema and popular culture in India with the award.
