"Had Locked Myself In A Room For Role Preparation", Says Pankaj Tripathi

The actor revealed that this role demanded exceptional performance and he has delivered one of his best performance.

Pankaj Tripathi had to struggle for over 25 years to shine in the Bollywood industry, the much-awaited Netflix originals Sacred Games 2 will feature the actor in a pivotal role.

Guruji aka Pankaj Tripathi will feature as Teesra Baap of Gaitonde (Nawazuddin Siddiqui). Pankaj Tripathi was dressed in Guruji's attire and revealed that he was very scared when he was offered the role in Sacred Games 2.

“For almost a week before the shoot, I isolated myself from everyone. My family got worried about what am I exactly preparing for. This was a challenging character and I was scared,” Tripathi told reporters.

Talking about the sacrifice he had to give while doing the role, “When you are scared, you start working harder. I am not a method actor, I don’t cut off from the world but I had to shut myself off for this character and also shave my beard,” said Pankaj Tripathi.

With a successful season 1, Netflix and the makers of the season 2 are tight-lipped about the mystery surrounding the climax and the story behind Gaitonde's Teesra Baap. The role which has been suited best to Tripathi, "I have been a pundit and I have noticed my family members who are into religious rituals. The character which I am performing is very unique for me. It is not like an ordinary sadhu or cult leader. The writers of the web series were well equipped and it was written so well that changes were not made. Moreover, when you work on major platforms, the team is very professional and it gives an actor confidence while performing such difficult roles", he added.

Anurag Kashyap is at the helm of the portions featuring Siddiqui, while Neeraj Ghaywan of Masaan fame will direct the scenes with Khan. Motwane and Varun Grover return as the showrunner and the lead writer, respectively for the show which starts streaming from August 15.
