Anushka Sharma has been receiving great reviews for her debut digital production venture Paatal Lok, which premiered on 15th May on Amazon Prime Video.

Anushka Sharma is presently riding high on the thunderous success of her much-talked-about webseries Paatal Lok (2020). The actress-turned-producer bankrolled the project under her banner, Clean Slate Films, for leading streaming media giant Amazon Prime Video. It marks her debut as a producer on any OTT platform.

Talking to a senior entertainment journalist, Anushka Sharma reveals that she was actively involved in the production of Paatal Lok. What stood out to her was the idea that how humans often fail humanity at large, how for our own personal gains and power, we can oppress people and somehow that is okay.

Anushka Sharma is all praises for the writer of the series, Sudip Sharma, and calls his writing genuinely unprecedented. She says that Sudip is one of the best writers in the country. He has the ability to say something so complex in such an economical way. She adds that she is always in love with his writing.

Apart from its taut writing, Paatal Lok has been hailed for its impeccable performances as well. Anushka Sharma goes on to say that she loved all the performances as they have been unbelievable. Praising the lead actor Jaideep Ahlawat, she says that he is an institution in himself.

Talking about her involvement in the show, she says that she has been involved right from the inception of the idea to the final product. When asked about her favourite scenes from Paatal Lok, she singles out the scene wherein Inspector Hathi Ram Chaudhary unleashes a barrage of Haryanvi abuses at a local goon, and wins the respect of his son, only to get a tight slap from his wife moments later.

On acting front, Anushka Sharma was last seen in Zero (2018) alongside Shah Rukh Khan and Katrina Kaif. The actress has not signed any film after the failure of Zero. However, buzz has it that she has given her nod to cricketer Jhulan Goswami’s biopic.
