Handwara Attack: One Colonel, One Major, Three Others Killed; The Ringleader Is Pakistanis

A colonel, a major, and three others were killed while they were chasing a group of terrorists in Changimulla, Handwara on Saturday.

When the Coronavirus situation in India is still intense, the whole country is giving extra miles in the battle of fighting against this novel virus. As everyone is practicing social distancing, many think that there will be no danger in public. However, it seems like everything went beyond our imagination because the recent Handwara attack left the nation in shock.

It’s said to be one of the most terrible tragedies for Kashmir security forces in recent years, a colonel, a major, and three others were killed while they were chasing a group of terrorists in Changimulla, Handwara on Saturday.

According to a statement of the Indian Army, the 12-hour operation took place at the scene in Handwara and came up with the killing of two terrorists in the Handwara attack. The identity of one Lashkar operatives has been discovered.

Jammu Kashmir Police’s inspector general, in an interview with India Today, said,

 "The chief commander of Lashkar in Valley, identified as Haider, has been killed in Handwara encounter. We had inputs that he was in Handwara to receive a fresh batch of infiltrators but was eliminated."

For those who are unversed, Haider who had been active in Kashmir for 5 years now was the ring leader of terror in the Valley. They lure and recruit youngsters to join the gang. Haider was also a Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir-based resident.

They were reportedly martyred in almost an 8-hour extremely intense gun battle.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also paid tributes to the demise of the victims from the Handwara attack. He stated that the loss of security personnel and soldiers is relatively painful and disturbing for the entire country as they fought till the last breath for the sake of civilians' peace.

Elaborating further, PM said that they made supreme sacrifice for the country and for the lives of other people. Modi affirmed that they will be missed forever and Indian people won’t forget their sacrifice and bravery.
