During his latest interview with a media outlet, Jayam Ravi confirmed that he will don a director’s hat in 2020. He also revealed that he would like to cast Yogi Babu in his maiden directorial venture.

Jayam Ravi, one of the most sought-after actors in the Tamil film industry, is gearing up to add a new feather to his cap. Known for delivering a series of blockbuster movies in his one-and-a-half-decade long career, Ravi has now decided to turn to direction. He will continue to act in films though.

Yes, you heard that right! The superstar will go behind the camera in 2020. In his recent interview with a well-known media outlet, Jayam Ravi confirmed the development. He also added that he would like to rope in acclaimed actor Yogi Babu in his directorial debut and showcase him in a never-seen-before avatar.

There is nothing new in successful actors turning to direction. There is a long list of actors who branched out to direction, be it in Bollywood or Kollywood. What all matters is that whether or not their transition turned out to be a successful one. We hope Jayam Ravi receives the same kind of response for his directorial offerings as he does for films wherein he acts.

If we talk about Jayam Ravi’s upcoming film projects, the actor has just finished his next, titled Comali. The comic-caper also features Kajal Aggarwal and Yogi Babu in important roles. What makes the project even more exciting is the fact that it features Jayam Ravi in nine different avatars.

Besides Comali, the megastar has several other exciting projects on his platter at the moment. He will soon kick-start his 25th film which will be helmed by filmmaker Lakshman, who has previously directed successful films like Romeo Juliet (2015) and Bogan (2017).

The actor has also given his nod to the next directorial venture of Ahmed. Actress Taapsee Pannu plays the female lead in the untitled film. Jayam Ravi will also be reteaming with his director brother Mohan Raja to headline the sequel to their successful film Thani Oruvan (2015). The actor is also in consideration for celebrated filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s next.
