Suriya Drops Interesting Details On His Next “Soorarai Pottru”

Suriya, whose recent release “NGK” released on 31st May garnering polarized reviews, has joined hands with filmmaker Sudha Kongara for his next “Soorarai Pottru”. Several media reports suggest that the project is a biopic on Captain GR Gopinath.

Suriya is currently in news for his latest film Nandha Gopala Kumaran (NGK), which released on 31^st May and garnered a mixed response from critics and audiences alike. Also starring Rakul Preet Singh and Sai Pallavi in lead roles, the Selvaraghavan directorial has failed to create ripples at the box-office. However, critics have unanimously heaped praises on the riveting performance of Suriya in the movie, terming it one of the best performances of his career.

After NGK, the actor has two more projects in his pocket, namely Kaappaan and Soorarai Pottru. While he has already finished Kaappaan and is looking forward to its theatrical release on 30^th August, the superstar is currently shooting for Soorarai Pottru.

Ever since Soorarai Pottru has been announced, rumors are doing the rounds in the industry circuit that it is a biopic based on the life of Captain GR Gopinath, who founded Air Deccan. However, the superstar has clarified that the much-talked-about film is not a biopic on Captain GR Gopinath, but is inspired from certain events that happened in his life.

Apart from Suriya, Soorarai Pottru also features Aparna Balamurali, Saranya Ponvannan and Jackie Shroff on its cast. Produced by D Entertainment and Sikhya Entertainment, the film is expected to make its entry into cinemas next year. The official release date of the film is yet to be announced.
