Rakul Preet Singh Talks About Working With Kamal Haasan

Rakul Preet Singh is playing a pivotal part in filmmaker Shankar’s next offering “Indian 2”, also starring Kamal Haasan and Siddharth. The movie is a sequel to the 1996 National Award-winning film “Indian”.

Rakul Preet Singh is on a roll! Her last Hindi film De De Pyaar De (2019) with seasoned actors Ajay Devgn and Tabu turned out to be a massive hit at the box-office. On the other hand, she is getting to work with some of the biggest names in the South Indian film industry. There is no denying the fact that the actress has maintained a fine balance between her work in Hindi and South films.

Though Rakul Preet Singh has been exploring various genres ever since exploding on the silver screen, she has no interest in starring in madcap comedies. “Let it come to me then I will think about it. I am not a fan of brainless comedy. Sometimes there are slapstick films which are humorous and other times you are like ‘why make such films?’ so I can’t make a blanket statement,” she says.

Meanwhile, Rakul Preet Singh is shooting for one of her career’s biggest films titled Indian 2. As the title suggests itself, the movie is a sequel to the 1996 Award-winning film Indian. Directed by renowned filmmaker Shankar, the sequel also stars megastar Kamal Haasan and Siddharth in important roles.

Sharing her experience of working with Haasan, the actress told a daily, “Kamal sir is such a fantastic actor, and there is so much to learn from him.  He is so experienced. Between shots we sit and talk to him and ask him ‘how did you do Appu Raja (1989), Chachi 420 (1997). So just getting a chance to work with him is surreal.”

When asked about her character in the film, the actress added, “I am not allowed to speak about my character. I am not opposite Kamal sir, I am opposite Siddharth and we are all working together in the film. We are shooting till August next year, so it is too early to speak about anything.”
