After the earth-shattering success of his latest offering “Maharshi”, Mahesh Babu is now gearing up to commence work on his 26th film. To be directed by popular filmmaker Anil Ravipudi, the big-ticket project will be launched at a glitzy event on May 31.

Mahesh Babu is a force to reckon with in Telugu cinema. The actor, who has starred in several high-profile movies over the years, is currently riding high on the riotous success of his latest film, Maharshi (2019). Directed by Vamsi Paidipally, the action entertainer has emerged as the biggest blockbuster of his career. Opened on 9th May, the movie is still running successfully in several theatres across the country.

While Maharshi is still playing in cinemas, Mahesh Babu has reportedly started focusing on his next project. The actor has signed an untitled film which Anil Ravipudi will be calling the shots for. Fresh from the humongous success of his latest directorial F2 - Fun and Frustration (2019), Ravipudi will direct Mahesh Babu for the first time in his career.

The latest update on the much-awaited project is that it will have a grand launch on May 31, which also happens to be the birthday of Krishna, the father of Mahesh Babu. According to various media reports, a grand event has been organized to formally announce the 26th film of the superstar. Besides Mahesh Babu, the film also features Rashmika Mandanna and Aditi Rao Hydari in lead roles. The regular shoot is slated to begin from the last week of June.

Ever since fans came to know that such a project is in the works, they have been more than eager to know everything about. Though nothing much is known about the storyline of the movie, insiders reveal that it will be a revenge drama and Mahesh Babu may don a khaki uniform once again. Produced by Anil Sunkara and presented Dil Raju, the movie will open on Pongal in 2020.

Meanwhile, Mahesh Babu's Maharshi has dethroned his previous release, Bharat Ane Nenu, (2018) to become the top-grossing film of his career. It is now gearing up to become fifth-ever Telugu film to achieve the ₹ 100 crore share milestone after Baahubali: The Beginning (2015), Khaidi No 150 (2017), Baahubali: The Conclusion (2017), and Rangasthalam (2018).
