Jayam Ravi To Split Time Between “Bhoomi” And “Ponniyin Selvan” Shoot

Jayam Ravi is keeping quite busy these days! The superstar, who was most recently seen in the superhit comic-caper Comali (2019), has some exciting projects on his platter right now. He is presently busy shooting for celebrated filmmaker Mani Ratnam’s most ambitious directorial offering Ponniyin Selvan.

historical drama, which is based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's fictional novel of the same name, is being made on a lavish scale and features an army of actors from various industries. To get into the skin of his character in the period drama, Jayam Ravi has grown his hair.

In addition to Ponniyin Selvan, Jayam Ravi is also shooting for his much-awaited 25th film Bhoomi. Written and directed by Lakshman, the film features the actor in the role of a farmer, who is seemingly set to lead a revolt on behalf of fellow farmers. Recently, the makers launched the first-look of the movie, which created a lot of ripples on social media. Fans are really looking forward to Bhoomi as it reunites the superstar with director Lakshman for the third time after massive hits like Romeo Juliet (2015) and Bogan (2017).

Bhoomi is being produced by Sujataa Vijayakumar, the mother-in-law of Jayam Ravi, under the Home Movie Makers banner. The actor will start shooting for the final schedule of the film on January 3, 2020 in Bangkok. It will be wrapped up by the January 12. The makers are reportedly aiming to release the movie in the second half of 2020. The film also marks the Kollywood debut of Nidhhi Agerwal, who has previously appeared in Telugu and Hindi films. Right after wrapping up Bhoomi, Jayam Ravi will resume shooting with Mani Ratnam for Ponniyin Selvan from the very next day in Thailand.
