Starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Radhika Apte and Tabu in lead roles, “Andhadhun” was the biggest surprise hit of 2018. The Sriram Raghavan directorial has been rated as one of the best Bollywood black comedy crime thrillers of all times.

Dhanush, one of the most popular Tamil stars across the globe, has set his eyes on a Bollywood film which he wants to remake in his mother tongue Tamil. The superstar has confirmed that he has initiated the process of acquiring the remake rights of ace filmmaker Sriram Raghavan’s 2018 hit, Andhadhun.

Headlined by Ayushmann Khurrana, Radhika Apte and Tabu, Andhadun was the biggest surprise hit of 2018. Made on a moderate budget, the movie went on to become a massive hit at the box-office. It has been rated as one of the finest black comedy crime thrillers Bollywood have ever produced.

Dhanush confirmed the development during his recent visit to Mumbai. He was in the maximum city to launch the theatrical trailer of his much-awaited Hollywood film, The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir. The movie, which saw its screening at the Cannes Film Festival last year, marks the acting debut of the actor in Hollywood.

The award-winning actor revealed that he had stopped starring in remakes since 2009. However, when he saw the Sriram Raghavan directorial, Andhadhun, he could not stop himself from approaching the makers for a Tamil remake. “It’s a brilliant film and we have already started the process of acquiring the rights. It’s one of those thrillers which I wouldn’t mind remaking in Tamil,” said Dhanush.

For the uninitiated, Dhanush entered Hindi cinema with the 2013 blockbuster film, Raanjhanaa, co-starring Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhaskar, and Abhay Deol. The film was directed by Aanand L Rai and Dhanush is keen to join forces with the filmmaker once again. “We keep discussing a lot of ideas. I’ll definitely work with him again,” said the superstar. He also added that he has signed a Hindi film on the dotted line and an official announcement will be made soon.

The Extraordinary Journey of the Fakir is set to roll into theatres on 21st June 2019.
