Anushka Shetty starrer Nishabdham is a multilingual film. Keeping in mind the ongoing situation due to COVID-19, the makers are eyeing a digital release for the movie.

Anushka Shetty was last seen in a full-fledged role in the G. Ashok directorial Bhaagamathie (2018). The horror political thriller set the box-office on fire and turned out to be one of the most successful women-centric films of recent times. After Bhaagamathie, Anushka Shetty was seen in a cameo in superstar Chiranjeevi’s big-ticket historical drama Sye Raa Narsimha Reddy (2019).

Anushka Shetty was all set to be seen next in the much-awaited thriller film Nishabdham, co-starring R. Madhavan. Helmed by Hemant Madhukar, the multilingual film was gearing up for its theatrical release this summer. However, the unexpected arrival of the Coronavirus pandemic ensured that all plans go haywire.

May and June are generally considered the golden months for the film industry as several makers line-up their high-profile films for release during this time. The summer holidays in schools and colleges ensure that the family crowd throngs theatres in droves, helping in huge collections at the box-office.

However, the summer of 2020 is going to be immensely different. Due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, all movies scheduled to release in April, May and June have been postponed. Nobody knows when theatres will start operating again. With such uncertainty looming large, a number of filmmakers are shifting their attention to OTT platforms.

Speculations are rife that Anushka Shetty and R. Madhavan’s Nishabdham will also be released on OTT. Initially, the makers of the film had brushed it off as rumours, but as things stand today, chances are high that Nishabdham will premiere directly on an OTT platform.

A source in the know informs a publication that the team of the hugely anticipated film is in discussion with a leading streaming media platform which is ready to give them a handsome deal but it is not finalised yet. Whenever the decision is taken if the film will get a direct OTT release or if they will wait for theatres to reopen, they will announce it.
