Talking about Maruthi’s brand of cinema, we can imagine it is quite familiar a film. He is quite traditional in the way he builds his plot. Most of them are tried-and-tested ideas. Therefore, it’s so easy to guess his latest works, Sailaja Reddy Alludu. The main actors are Naga Chaitanya and Anu Emmanuel. This film’s plot is based on Nagarjuna’s Allari Alludu but the director added a slight twist to make it more attractive. Overall, those who want some interesting, groundbreaking elements, don’t watch this film. It’s more suitable for entertainment purpose.

The film is the story of Naga Chaitanya (Chaitanya) facing to the narcissism of Murali Sharma, Anu Emmanuel and Ramya Krishnan. Murali Sharma plays his father role, he is a narcissist millionaire. He has refused the marriage proposal for his daughter because of his egoism. Ramya Krishnan is Anu’s mother, she is an egoistic mother, also. The most important character is Anu Emmanuel. She is the apple of Naga’s eyes, also a narcissist character. Naga falls in love with her at the first moment they met. Naga tries everything with the hope that his father will accept their relationship. Everything goes further when they meet Ramya’s objection.

The plot is quite familiar, nonetheless, the main characters have to deal with the common problems in contemporary love stories. However, the film doesn't focus completely on the couple Chaitanya and Anu. Their love action is not as fiery as it should be. Though the romantic performance is unsatisfied, the comedy elements perfect, especially in the second part.

Besides, Ramya Krishnan shows that she is a talented casting when she can undertake almost kind of acting. In this film, she is a mother-in-law, sometimes serious, sometimes humorous. Also, the director hasn't described the conflict between her and Chaitanya clearly. Therefore, it's really hard for the audiences to understand the characteristic of Ramya. Otherwise, Anu Emmanuel, need to do nothing onscreen, she needs to be beautiful, that's enough.

The second part of the film is expected to be more serious with the actions of Chaitanya. However, the director adds some comedy elements to it and make his audiences a little bit upset.

By the way, though the familiar plot, the familiar telling style, and sometimes unneeded comedy elements, Sailaja Reddy Alludu is a comedy-drama must-awaited of Maruthi.

By the way, if you're a critical audience and you want something more challenge, less pretendious, you can prefer a film about the chauvinism starred by Ramya Krishna and Nagarjuna in many decades ago.
