The devotees typically wake up earlier than usual in the morning of Vijaya Ekadashi or any other Ekadashis. They will then bathe and clean the residence and gear up for a Puja.

Vrat, fast both have a specific time. The fast is usually kicked off the night before the official Ekadashi, it’s considered like a curtain-raiser event.
