Bohemian Rhapsody, Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald, Widows, Boy Erased, Mohalla Assi and Pihu are new movies at the cinema this week

Bohemian Rhapsody

Named after one of Queen's most famous songs in 1975, Bohemian Rhapsody is a biopic telling the story of the legendary band Queen, focusing on the lead singer Freddie Mercury (played by Rami Malek). This movie will follow Freddie’s life, from an unknown artist to his classic performance at 1985's Live Aid at Wembley Stadium.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald

The sequel of Fantastic Beasts follows Newt Scamander (played by Eddie Redmayne), a wizard and magizoologist, as he teams up with Albus Dumbledore (played by Jude Law) in defeating the powerful dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (played by Johnny Depp).  In addition, Newt gets support from Tina Goldstein (Katherine Waterston), Queenie Goldstein (Alison Sudol), Jacob Kowalsk (Dan Fogler), and his older brother, Theseus Scamander (Callum Turner). Other casts are Ezra Miller, Claudia Kim, and Zoë Kravitz.

Widows

The newest movie from Oscar-winner Steve McQueen tells a story of four widows including Veronica (played by Oscar-winner Viola Davis), Alice (Elizabeth Debicki), Linda (Michelle Rodriguez) and Belle (Cynthia Erivo), who attempt a heist to pay back a crime boss after their criminal husbands’ death. The film also stars Liam Neeson, Colin Farrell, Daniel Kaluuya, Brian Tyree Henry and Robert Duvall.

Boy Erased

Boy Erased chronicles the story of Jared Eamons (played by Lucas Hedges), a young boy living in a small town in Arkansas. Jared has a secret he never wants anyone to know that he is gay. However, when he is raped by a fellow student and his parents find out about this, he must confront his real sexual orientation. As a Baptist, his parents (played by Russel Crowe and Nicole Kidman) consider this as a sin and they force him to go through a gay conversion therapy, the traumatic practice of trying to fix or cure homosexuality.

Mohalla Assi

Set in the 1990s, the pilot is about a priest and Sanskrit teacher Pandit Dharmanath Pandey (played by Sunny Deol), who strongly objects to foreigners renting rooms in his all-Brahmin neighborhood.

Pihu

Directed and written by Vinod Kapri, Pihu is a social thriller movie telling about a 2-year-old girl, who is trapped in her own house with no escape.
