Angelina Jolie's "Maleficent: Mistress of Evil" Release Date Delayed Until October

Previously said to hit the theatres on May 29, the fantasy adventure "Maleficent: Mistress of Evil" will finally hit the theater 5 months late.

On Wednesday, March 6, Walt Disney Studios made their official announcement on the release date of the Maleficent sequel. Previously said to hit the theatres on May 29, the fantasy adventure "Maleficent: Mistress of Evil" will finally hit the theatre on October 18.

With the new release date, the second instalment of Maleficent will have to compete with several other movies from the unknown horror film of Blumhouse to The Adams Family. Coming in the same week will be Zombieland 2, an adaption of The Goldfinch and Gemini Man - a comeback project from the talented director Ang Lee which starring Will Smith.

Meanwhile, the original date has The Spongebob Movie and Fast & Furious 9" coming at the same time

Along with the announcement of finalized release date, Disney also revealed Angelina Jolie’s first look in the sequel. For the second time, the audiences will see her in the role of the villainous but beautiful Maleficent. The image showed one of her sides bathing in shadows when the splash light highlighted her perfect angle. The actress is stunning and enchantress with horns, wings, piercing eyes and classic red lips.

The movie also features Sam Riley, Elle Fanning, Juno Temple and Imelda Staunton who also made their appearances in the first instalment. In addition to that are new faces like Harris Dickinson, Ed Skrein, Chiwetel Ejiofor and Michelle Pfeiffer.

The first instalment of Maleficent was released in May 2014. Based on the well-known fairytale Sleeping Beauty, the movie focuses on the fairy story behind crushing the infant. Talking about the reason for taking part in a project, Jolie revealed that she wanted to do something that her kids could see. The actress also wanted to test the limit in a different type of art. She also revealed that it was one of the best scripts she had ever read.
