“Dil Bechara” To Premiere Directly On OTT Platform?

Dil Bechara has undoubtedly been one of the most-awaited romantic films of the year. The project has been in news even before hitting the shooting floor as it happens to be an official remake of the 2014 Hollywood film The Fault In Our Stars which revolves around two young terminally ill people who fall in love.

The film, which is based on a novel of the same name by author John Green, is popular all across the world for moving performances from Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort. The Hindi remake stars Sushant Singh Rajput and Sanjana Sanghi in lead roles. If you have been waiting for the remake with bated breath, here is a bad piece of news for you.

According to reports, Dil Bechara might miss its theatrical release and directly premiere on a digital platform instead. Yes, you heard it absolutely right! Dil Bechara might have a digital premiere. Interestingly, Sushant Singh Rajput’s much-delayed Dharma Productions’ offering Drive (2019) also had a digital premiere earlier this year, when the makers failed to secure a theatrical release for the film. The same seems to have happened with Dil Bechara as well.

So, what had led to this development? Apparently, the Hindi remake of The Fault In Our Stars was found to be too depressing for mass consumption and hence, it may go straight to the OTT platforms for its premiere. A source close to the development reveals to a popular publication, “After Drive, producer Karan Johar may again offload Dil Bechara on the OTT platform. It would be a double blow for Sushant, and several careers are at stake. Actress Sanjana Sanghi and casting director Mukesh Chhabra are both making debuts with this film. The OTT platform would be doom for all concerned.”

An official announcement confirming the same is highly awaited.
