CAB Protests: Comedian Vir Das Slams Many Superstars Over Their Silence, Calls Them Opportunistic

Many celebrities from the showbiz have raised their voice and expressed their displeasure over this act.

The controversial Citizenship Amendment Bill has turned out to the hottest topic which discussed right, left and centre on social media. Several parts across the country have witnessed the violent protests sicne the CAB was appproved by the Lok Sabha. This situation has escalated since the bill was also cleared in Rajya Sabha. It then became an Act when President Ram Nath Kovind gave his assent to it.

CAB protest taking place several states of the nation snowballed into bloodshed after a brutal crackdown of police towards the Jamina students who are protesting against the Act.

Many celebrities from the showbiz have raised their voice and expressed their displeasure over this act. Actors like Rajkumar Rao, Akshay Kumar, Swara Bhasker, Dia Mirza, Alia Bhatt also went on record to give their two cents’ worth on such brutality. However, it seems not to be enough for Indian comedian Vir Das as he’s still stumped when seeing the deafening silence of many superstars.

The star took to his Twitter handle to take dig at many celebs over their silence. He firstly says sorry for the protestors as many people from the entertainment industry won’t stand with them. Such filmmakers, actors are going to try and make money about the issue someday rather than express their opinions.

The fact that not only Vir, but Article 15 star Sayani Gupta also urged other actors to speak out and Bollywood megastar Shah Rukh Khan is the center target as he has been quite tight-lipped about this matter while he is even an alumni of the Jamina Millia University.
