Akshay Kumar & Ekta Kapoor Reteam For An Action Comedy

Akshay Kumar and Ekta Kapoor last worked together on gangster drama “Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara” in 2012. They are reportedly joining hands again for an action comedy.

Akshay Kumar has his plate full with almost half a dozen films, out of which three films are scheduled to hit the marquee in 2020 itself. But the ever-energetic superstar of Bollywood is busy signing new films every second month.

According to reports, Akshay Kumar has given his nod to yet another film. It will be an action comedy, to be produced by Balaji Motion Pictures’ Ekta Kapoor. The yet to be titled film will reunite Akshay Kumar with Ekta Kapoor after a long gap of seven years. Their last venture was gangster drama Once Upon A Time In Mumbai Dobaara (2012), which did not fare really well at the box-office.

A source close to the development reveals that Akshay Kumar and Ekta Kapoor have been discussing some ideas in different genres over the past few months now, and finally zeroed in on an action comedy. The film is expected to start rolling towards the end of the year and will enter theatres in 2021.

The source says that Akshay Kumar signed the film on the dotted line around 10 days ago and the logistics are currently being worked out and the script is being finalised. The forthcoming film is a comic caper with some action and lots of humour. A debutant filmmaker will helm the project and the makers are planning to mount it on a huge scale. Just like all his films in the last couple of years, Akshay Kumar will wrap up this one too in a start-to-finish schedule.

Meanwhile, Kumar is looking forward to the release of his next film Sooryavanshi. Directed by hit machine Rohit Shetty, the upcoming movie also features Katrina Kaif in the lead role. Both actors are reuniting after a massive gap of a decade after being last seen in Tees Maar Khan in 2010. Sooryavanshi releases on 24^th March 2020.
