The film, starring superstar Akshay Kumar as the male lead, expands Rohit Shetty’s cop Universe after Singham, Singham 2 and Simmba. The much-awaited cop-drama hits screens next year.

Filmmaker Rohit Shetty and Katrina Kaif started their career around the same time. But even after spending so many years in the industry, the duo never got an opportunity to team up with each other. And then, after a wait of several years, Sooryavanshi happened, which began its production on 6th May.

When Rohit Shetty announced that he is set to join forces with Katrina Kaif for his next directorial venture Sooryavanshi, the news inflamed the internet. Cinephiles congratulated both of them for finally teaming up for a movie.

However, there was also a section of the audience which did not seem very enthusiastic about the coming together of the two creative forces. Why so? Because many of them believe that Rohit Shetty’s films hardly have anything meaty for their actresses and focus solely on male actors.

But if Shetty’s words are to be believed, Katrina is going to play a strong character in Sooryavanshi.  The hit filmmaker also revealed that he had been trying to do a film with the actress for several years now, and Sooryavanshi seemed like an apt project for both of them and hence, they collaborated on the same.

Sooryavanshi expands Rohit Shetty’s successful cop Universe, which he created with blockbuster films like Singham (2011), Singham 2 (2014) and Simmba (2018). Produced by Dharma Productions and Rohit Shetty Picturez, the cop-drama is scheduled to arrive on 22nd May 2020.
