The movie features Shah Rukh Khan in the role of Bauaa Singh who is in search of a bride. Bauaa then meets Aafia, a scientist from NASA suffering from cerebral palsy, played by actor Anushka Sharma and also encounters Babita Kumari, played by Katrina Kaif, a superstar from B-town wrestling with alcoholism. The movie is about a love triangle and got a mixed response from the critics.

The movie also had to deal with a problem that several fake Twitter accounts shared fake reviews together with leaked scenes and screenshots of the film on its release day.

While the box opening collection of Zero was similar to SRK’s previous films such as Happy New Year and Raees, Yash-starrer KGF released on the same day, won the box office in Karnataka and became the biggest grosser. For the record, the Kannada film earned Rs 18 crore on its release day.

The fact is that Zero’s opening paled in comparison with Salman Khan-starrer Race 3’s with Rs 29 crore in the collection and Aamir Khan-starrer Thugs of Hindostan’s collecting Rs 50 crore on an opening day.
