The Thadam remake will be bankrolled by Murad Khetani and Bhushan Kumar. The producers tasted huge success with their last collaboration Kabir Singh (2019), which was also a remake of the superhit Telugu film Arjun Reddy (2017). The South remake will be the first time Sidharth Malhotra attempts a double role. He will be seen in the role of a businessman and a small-time thief. The makers have planned a two-month, start-to-finish schedule for the remake.

A source close to the development informs a publication that after several rounds of discussions and recce, the makers zeroed in on Delhi to shoot the film. The team will shoot at real locations in the capital city. The chase sequences will be canned on busy streets. Sidharth Malhotra sports two looks in the film—a suave businessman and a rowdy. The actor will undergo look tests and workshops in April to create the avatars.

The remake marks the directorial debut of Vardhan Ketkar, who was an assistant director on two Sidharth-starrers, Brothers (2015) and Kapoor & Sons (2016). He has also worked with Murad on his 2017 comedy Mubarakan, starring Anil Kapoor and Arjun Kapoor in important roles.

Meanwhile, Sidharth Malhotra will be next seen in Shershaah, a biopic based on the life of Captain Vikram Batra who martyred in the 1999 Kargil War. Kiara Advani plays the female part in the flick.
