Sanjay Leela Bhansali Set To Bankroll “Kaththi” Remake

Filmmaker Jagan Shakti, who made his directorial debut with the latest blockbuster Mission Mangal, is set to remake 2014 Tamil action film Kaththi in Hindi.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali is presently gearing up to commence the first shooting schedule of his next directorial venture Inshallah.

The duo last worked together on Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, which hit the marquee in 1999. Besides Salman Khan, Inshallah also stars successful actress Alia Bhatt in the lead role.

Apart from directing films himself, Sanjay Leela Bhansali is also a producer who keeps backing strong stories under his production house, Sanjay Leela Bhansali Pictures. If fresh reports are to be believed, the filmmaker has acquired the rights of a Tamil blockbuster which he is planning to remake in Hindi.

We are talking about Ikka, the Hindi remake of Tamil hit Kaththi (2014), which starred Vijay in the lead role. While the Tamil film was directed by A.R. Murugadoss, the remake will be helmed by Jagan Shakti who is presently riding high on the success of his debut film Mission Mangal (2019), starring Akshay Kumar, Vidya Balan, Taapsee Pannu, Sonakshi Sinha, Nithya Menen and Kirti Kulhari.

Confirming the same, director Jagan Shakti says,

When reports about the remake first emerged in media, it was Akshay Kumar who was set to play the male lead in the movie. However, Jagan Shakti clarifies that Khiladi Kumar will not be the male lead of the film. “No, unfortunately, he is not part of the film,” said the director.
