Katrina Kaif recently appeared on noted journalist Barkha Dutt’s popular chat show We The Women. The actress, who has been working in Bollywood for more than one and a half decade now, opened up about a lot of things on the show, including gender and pay disparity in the industry and why female-led Hindi movies need to have the same budget as male-led movies.

Katrina Kaif, who is known to speak her mind, urged that the industry should take a chance on women as well. She said that she has discussed the same with a lot of producers that she is close to and have worked with in the past. The Tiger Zinda Hai (2017) actress wants the female dominated films, with may be one or two heroines, to get the same budget as films headlined by A-list Bollywood stars. Kaif believes that a female-led commercial movie has the potential to do those numbers.

When asked if she finds the situation frustrating, Katrina Kaif said that it does not make her angry. In fact, it makes her super passionate because it is her ambition to try and make this happen. She wants to see a film with — not supported by men– the same budget that producers give to the big action franchises.

Katrina Kaif, who was last seen in Bharat (2019) opposite superstar Salman Khan, is looking forward to the release of her next film Sooryavanshi. To be directed by Rohit Shetty, the cop-drama also features Akshay Kumar in the lead role. Sooryavanshi reunites Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif after a massive gap of a decade. The two stars last worked together on Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan which hit the marquee in 2010, but did not set the cash registers jingling.
