On Tuesday, a Bollywood delegation of actors and producers, including Ajay Devgn, Karan Johar, and Akshay Kumar met Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister.

On Tuesday, a delegation of actors and producers, including Ajay Devgn, Karan Johar, and Akshay Kumar called on Narendra Modi, the Prime Minister, who visited Maharashtra for one day, to discuss issues that the film industry of India is facing.

In addition, the delegation comprises of famous film producers, including Rakesh Roshan, the Films And Television Producers Guild’s President, Ritesh Sidhwani, Prasoon Joshi - Chairman of the Central Board of Film Certification, or CBFC for short, Ronnie Screwvala, and Vijay Singh - Fox Star Studios’ CEO.

According to a statement of PIB, the movie fraternity team provided an overview involving the enormous growth capability of the entertainment industry and the media. Moreover, they pitched for the uniform and lower GST rates for India’s entertainment industry.

The Prime Minister shared that the entertainment industry of India gains the huge popularity all over the world. He also continued it is, globally, one of the rising power status’ key element in India.

He declared the delegation in which the Union Government supports the entertainment industry and the media; and will take the suggestions into consideration positively.

Also, the delegation members demanded the Mumbai’s development as a large-scale entertainment capital via multiple proactive approaches and initiatives.

It was the filmmakers’ second meeting with Prime Minister since the 24th of October this year. In addition to Sidhwani and Aamir Khan, they had met Prime Minister in Delhi.

As reported by film industry sources, Sidhwani insisted the PM on looking towards dealing with cinema as the “industry” by recognizing the contribution that it makes to the fiscal growth and exchequer of the nation, and in enhancing bilateral ties among nations as an ambassador of the global culture.
