Kabir Khan Speaks About Violent Attacks On Students In New Delhi

The filmmaker had recently protested on streets of Mumbai against police brutality on students.

Filmmaker Kabir Khan is an alumnus of Jamia Milia Islamia University, New Delhi. He finally opened up about the incident in which Delhi police assaulted students inside the campus. The police officials were also accused of ransacking University's properties. Students were protesting last month against Citizen Amendment Act which went violent. After police brutality, students from all over India protested on the streets. The demanded severe action against senior police officers involved in assaulting students. Kabir Khan while speaking with a news agency said that the government should engage in a debate rather than assaulting students inside the campus.

Kabir Khan Several celebrities from Bollywood industry condemned the incident and demanded strict action against government officials for assaulting students. Kabir Khan said that he felt very uncomfortable after seeing students of Jamia Milia Islamia University students being brought out of the campus with their hands in the air. He believes that the students have their rights to show dissent and protest peacefully. Being in a democracy no government can stop students from protesting and showing dissent.

He further said that the government could have entered into a debate with students instead of brutally assaulting them. Kabir Khan had joined the protests in Mumbai and condemned the incident. He said that the students cannot be stopped from talking what they don't like about. But assaulting in their campus was not at all required. That the culture we do not want in the country he had said. Similarly, he also spoke about the attack by masked men inside Jawaharlal Nehru University campus. More than 40 masked men entered JNU campus and attacked students. Aishe Ghosh, JNU students union president was severely injured in the incident. Kabir Khan said that university campuses are the future of our country. They should be respected and that is very important.
