Ira Khan Talks About Her Theatrical Directorial Debut

Ira Khan is all set to kick-start her professional life by directing an upcoming play. If you do not know who Ira Khan is, let us tell you that she is the daughter of Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan and his first wife Reena Dutta. She has announced her theatrical debut with Euripide’s Medea recently.

Ever since Ira announced her plans to direct a play, people have been curious to know what she is coming up with. As per reports in the media, the preparations are already underway for the upcoming venture. Euripide’s Medea is a Greek tragedy and Ira Khan is leaving no stone unturned to make sure that it leaves a lasting impression when presented before an audience in months to come.

When asked what led her to pick up Medea to make her directorial debut with, Ira said that she always wanted to direct a story where she is able to tell something specific. “I wanted to direct a story where I feel like I will be able to tell something specific. I like this play because I wanted to tell the story in my way.”

Revealing what appealed her in the classic tale of Medea, Ira Khan shared that she finds Greek mythology interesting and dramatic. “I find Greek mythology interesting and dramatic. These myths are absurd. I always knew that if I want to do a play, then I would do a classical story. And when I started the process, I really liked Medea because it is still relevant; we do see such cases happening even today,” she said in conclusion.

For the unversed, Ira Khan has been a student of Greek tragedy and German literature. She has a keen interest in Classical literature. Medea is being directed by Ira Khan, presented by Entropy and produced by Sarika’s production house NautankiSa Productions. More details are awaited.
