He then crooned Calcutta Kiss for Dibakar Banerjee’s mystery thriller Detective Byomkesh Bakshy in 2015. In an interview with STARBIZ correspondent Imran Fazal, Imaad Shah describes his role in his upcoming film and his views towards digital platforms.

Its been a long time that you have featured in a film, how did you land into this project?

The director, scripts and co-actors were great and it also gave me an opportunity to perform. The role offered to me was very interesting. The film which is a suspense thriller and not a horror one keeps the audience at the edge of seats.

This role gave me the experience to project myself as a sardar. Overall it was a great script which made me sign this film. Moreover, this film will definitely impress the audience which gives a strong message at the end. Sometimes I feel that this role was made for me due to its well-written script.

How would you describe your role in Posham Pa?

I am playing the role of Sardar named Gundi. My role is as a documentary filmmaker who is on his new project to document the lives of three women. These three women are serial killers. The character is like a detective and the story revolves with how these filmmakers document the lives of these women which unfolds the suspense in the end. I am very much excited about this film and I am waiting for feedback from the audience when it releases on Zee5.

When we see the poster of the film, you are missing from it. Any reason that you have not been given enough space on promotional features?

These three female actors (Mahie Gill, Sayani Gupta, and Ragini Khanna) are a powerhouse in the film. The movie is based on their lives. My role is to document their lives in the film. Also, women-centric films are a very positive thing for the industry.

Your father, Naseeruddin Shah has been a pillar in your life do you consult him before signing any new projects or do you take any advice on acting skills?

Yes, It is something like that. I learn a lot from him. We do theaters together. The best part is when you master theatre skills, it becomes an easy task to act in films and web series. Right now I am focusing on my acting and music career.

Maybe in the future, I will work with my father in some project. We have received scripts but we are yet to finalize on the project. When we do something it has to be very precious. I am directing a film which will release this year-end or next year depending on the available dates.
