In 83, Padukone will be seen as Romi Dev, the wife of legendary cricketer Kapil Dev, played by Ranveer Singh. The actress recently opened up about sharing the screen space with husband Ranveer Singh once again. She said that it was nice to work with him in a slightly more realistic setting and not having to mouth such intense dialogue with that kind of language that the two did on three films, Goliyon Ki Raasleela: Ram-Leela (2013), Bajirao Mastani (2015) and Padmaavat. She termed the experience refreshing. She added that the two had to remind each other that this is the same actor that they worked with.

Talking about why she chose to play Romi Dev in 83, the actress said that she has seen what an important support system her mother has been in her father’s life as an athlete and her contribution to his success. The actress added that she saw many similarities when it came to Romi and Kapil Dev. 83, produced by Reliance Entertainment, is scheduled to hit the marquee on 10th April, 2020.
