CONGRATS! “Gully Boy” Bags The Best Film From India Award At Asian Academy Creative Awards

Gully Boy has added another feather into its cap as it has recently brought home another international award.

2019 has witnessed a rain of box office hits. It was kicked-off with Vicky Kaushal-starrer Uri: The Surgical Strike and in the last quarter of the year, the cinema halls nationwide have been taken by storm with back-to-back blockbusters like War, Super 30, and many more.

At the beginning of 2019, other than Uri, one film which struck a chord with the audience is none other than Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt’s Gully Boy. Now, the film has added another feather into its cap as it has recently brought home another international award.

Gully Boy has bagged the best film from India award in the regional finals of the Asian Academy Creative Awards.

Overwhelmed by this victory, Farhan Akhtar outright took to his Twitter handle to express his contentment and also send congratulation to the whole film crew.

He tweeted, “#GullyBoy wins best film from India in the regional finals of the Asian Academy Creative Awards. Congratulations team. #ZoyaAkhtar @ritesh_sid @kagtireema @RanveerOfficial @aliaa08 @AsianAcademyCr1”

For those unversed, earlier, Gully Boy made it India’s official entry for prestigious Oscars 2019.

Gully Boy is jointly produced by Ritesh Sidhwani, Zoya Akhtar, and Farhan Akhtar and features Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in the key roles.

The film portraits the life of an underground rapper Murad (played by Ranveer Singh) and Safeena (Alia Bhatt) is his love interest. She is an aspiring medical student. Gully Boy is based on the real stories of two Mumbai-based street rappers Vivian Fernandes and Naved Shaikh.

Ranveer-starrer movie not only got a positive response from Indian audiences but also international ones. It’s not wrong to say director Zoya Akhtar has created a rap momentum throughout the country.
