"De De Pyaar De" is one of the lowest openings for an Ajay Devgn film in recent times. Having said that, the business is expected to grow over the weekend.

Headlined by superstar Ajay Devgn, Tabu and Rakul Preet Singh, De De Pyaar De collected ₹ 10.41 crores on its opening day at the domestic box-office. The movie entered theatres on Friday and garnered mixed response from critics.

Though an income of ₹ 10.41 crores is not at all bad to start with, it is one of the lowest openings for an Ajay Devgn starred in recent times. His last film Total Dhamaal (2019), which hit the marquee on 22nd February, had raked in ₹ 16.50 crores and zoomed past the coveted ₹ 100 crore club within 9 days.

Directed by editor-turned-filmmaker Akiv Ali, De De Pyaar De is a quirky romcom which revolves around a middle-aged man Ashish (Ajay Devgn) who falls in love with Ayesha (Rakul Preet Singh), a girl half his age. The twist in the tale comes when Ayesha comes to know that Ashish is yet to divorce his first wife Manju (Tabu).

The film has been written by screenwriter and filmmaker Luv Ranjan. Luv is known for delivering box-office hits like Pyaar Ka Punchnama (2011), Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 (2015) and Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety (2018). He is now gearing up to direct Ajay Devgn in their next venture which still remains untitled. Ranbir Kapoor will also be seen playing an important role in the flick.

Coming back to De De Pyaar De, the movie is expected to witness a spike in collections over the weekend. As per trade sources, the business on Saturday and Sunday is expected to swell, which may land the venture in a safe zone. However, it will remain to be seen whether or not the movie manages to enter the ₹ 100 crore club.

After De De Pyaar De, megastar Ajay Devgn will next be seen in his home production, Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior. The historical drama, directed by Om Raut, also stars Saif Ali Khan in an important role. It is poised for its theatrical release on 10th January 2020.
